Client Services Would Like To Thank…

Without MDSA receiving additional funding for services, events and equipment, many clients, families and carers would miss out on valuable opportunities to assist them in improving both their quality of life and ability to participate in the community. The Muscular Dystrophy Association would like to thank the following organisations for their kind donations:

Hotel Care
: Donated $3472.95

Used for a Computer and Data Projector and Pull Up Display. This equipment is regularly used to assist information presentations to other organisations, schools, Tafe and universities. The Pull Up Display IS  also used at events such as the Disability and Aging Expos to raise awareness of Muscular Dystrophy and the Association.

Sidney Myer Fund:
Donated $2100.00

Northern Carers Network:
Donated $1950.00

These donations were used for the MDA Carers Retreat 2010. Ten carers attended a weekend in Berri, staying at the Berri Riverside Caravan Park. The MDA covered all accommodation, massage and covered most meal costs.

Inclusive Recreation Inclusive Sport - Office for Recreation & Sport: Donated $16,500.00

This donation has been used to hold a combination of strength, balance and exercise classes for clients in various areas including northern, inner south and western suburbs. Each class was facilitated by a qualified neuro-physiotherapist. Equipment was also purchased for the classes including floor mats, a variety of therabands to assist with strength and exercise and also floor pedals which enable people to remain seated and mimic the movement of bike pedals.

Joseph Seridis Trust Fund:
Donated $5000.00

This donation will be used towards purchasing two CoughAssist machines for the MDA clients to assist them with respiratory function and in many cases prevent hospitalisation. Each CoughAssist machine has a retail value of $10950.00 However as the MDA is aiming to purchase two of the machines Respironics the supplier has reduced the purchase price to $9855.00. The MDA is currently working towards obtaining the remaining amount through further funding applications.

Community Benefit S.A:
Donated $11250.00

This donation will contribute to the MDA 2011 Camp Capacity. Camp Capacity is a week long camp held each year by the MDA for clients under the age of 25 years and their siblings. All accommodation, meals, transport and activities are covered by the MDA. Last year the MDA had a total of 75 people attend Camp Capacity including clients, siblings, volunteer carers and Client Services staff. Many clients look forward to the camp being held each year as it offers a fun filled week of activities and events suitable for all abilities at no cost to clients and families.

A very big thank you from MDSA!
