Christmas is all about children.  But not everyone gets to enjoy their childhood, especially at Christmas; some are faced with the enormous challenge of dealing with Muscular Dystrophy .  The most common form in children is Duchenne, which can see a young child using a manual wheelchair by the age of 8, and being completely dependent on an electric one by early teens.  Life expextancy for this disorder is usually only until early adulthood so every christmas is a precious one for them.

Sales of our Christmas Hampers assists to enable us to provide services that make their lives and the lives of their families more comfortable and Christmas more enjoyable.  Through our ChildFamilyCare partnership and funded by Little Heroes Foundation we provide a network of services programs to really make a difference for those living with Duchenne and you can add your support by purchasing our special Christmas Hamper.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 23RD 2011,

PULTENEY GRAMMER SCHOOL

The World of Trivia© has been connecting SA’s best and brightest students with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise funds for a people living with neuromuscular disorders for 20 years. 150 students from across the state will converge on Pulteney Grammar School, South Terrace Adelaide, to compete for the coveted perpetual trophies in the State Final on Sunday 23rd October 2011. The event not only raises money for South Australian’s living with neuromuscular disorders, it encourages students to learn about neuromuscular disorders in particular and disability issues in general. All students have asked family and friends to sponser them in this event and in return receive rewards for the amounts they raise. The schools participating in 2011 are: Unity College, Pembroke Middle School, Tanunda Lutheran School, Victor Harbour R7 School, Port Noarlunga Primary School, St Raphael’s School, Westminister Preparatory, Immanuel College, Emmaus Christian College, St Martins Lutheran College, Cambrai Area School, Prescott Primary School, Clovelly Park Primary School, Mercedes College, Cabra Dominican College and Tanunda Primary. ROYAL ADELADIE SHOW 2 - 10

Come and see us in the Jubilee Hall,  Booths H56 & H57, say hello to our volunteers and staff who will be at the booths from 10am - 9pm every day of the show.  The Royal show is an opportunity for MDsa to gain important awareness and also raise money by selling our merchandise and our lottery tickets.  This year for the first time we will be selling our Winter Lottery tickets, merchandise, red boutique items plus the Bow Tie Bear Volunteer Events Committee will also be selling Sheridan dog beds, hand made coat hangers and collectable Rupert Bear Pins   If you would like to help as a volunteer at the show please contact Richelle Clements on 8234 5266 or email rclements@mdasa.org.au

VOLUNTEERS WANTED - CAN YOU HELP

We are looking for volunteers for this major fundraising event.  The Adelaide Marathon will be held on Sunday the  28th of August 2011.  MDSA are the official charity for this event which will raise in excess of $50,000.00 for our clients.  As the official charity we are required to provide Marshalls and Drink Station coordinators on the morning of the 28th of August.  If you have a few hours to spare to be part of this fun and wonderful event please contact Richelle Clements on 8234 5266 or email rclements@mdasa.org.au 

ADELAIDE SHOW 2 SEPT - 10 SEPT 2011
